13 Celebrity Engagement Rings that Caught Our Attention

Celebrities and their love stories are always a concern for their fans. That’s why when the celebrities drop their single status they know how to do it in style. You can easily catch your favorite star or their better half wearing a glamorous and expensive ring that quite clearly does all the talking. In 2014 we saw several celebrities uniting with their sweethearts and getting engaged. But how they announced it to us is what we really remember. Be it George Clooney gifting his lawyer wife a humungous rock or Ashton Kutcher sealing the love deal with Mila Kunis with an elegant band, all the celebrities surely did win the hearts of their sweethearts (and ours too!). Let’s take a look at some of those who got engaged recently and how the engagement rings sparkled and dazzled.
1. George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin
The 54-year-old actor pulled up quite a coup when he announced his love to the world. Amal, a barrister by profession, is undoubtedly a stunner in her own way. And we are not complaining about the seven-carat diamond ring that looks exquisite on her fingers. The ring reportedly cost about $750,000.
2. Christina Aguilera and Matt Rutler
It was the Valentine’s Day of 2014 when Matt Rutler popped the question to the pop star with a multicolored gemstone ring. From whatever little view the media has had of the ring, it seems to have a very vintage look, though undoubtedly it has been specially designed for Aguilera.
3. Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis
Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis’ engagement was a long-excepted one and it finally happened in February 2014, a few months before their first child Wyatt Isabelle was born in October. The engagement ring is a simple, elegant one with a round diamond.
4. Sofia Hellqvist and Prince Carl Philip of Sweden
Their love story, engagement, and subsequent marriage was nothing short of a romantic film. It was a surprise engagement for the former model when the Prince proposed her early one morning in June 2015. Naturally, the engagement ring was marvelous too. It is a halo ring that consists of smaller diamonds that surround the main diamond.
5. Olivia Palermo and Johannes Huebl
It was a perfect proposal for Olivia when the German model Johannes Huebl chose New Year’s Eve to ask the question. It all happened while holidaying at St. Bart’s. The ring that’s seen on Olivia’s finger is a while-gold band with a big yellow diamond and two white diamonds on either side. Within the next six months, the couple walked the aisle in New York.
6. Nicky Hilton and James Rothschild
The hotel heiress and socialite Nicky Hilton got engaged to the banker in August 2014 while they were sailing on Italy's Lake Como. The ring is a diamond sparkler with a huge square-shaped diamond.
7. Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid
Snow Patrol rocker McDaid proposed to the Friends star Courteney while they were on a holiday to celebrate the latter’s 50th birthday. They officially got engaged seven months later. The ring looks like it has marquise-cut stones with one large diamond that’s flanked by smaller gems.
8. Shannon De Lima and Marc Anthony
There may be two decades of difference between Marc Anthony and Venezuelan model Shannon De Lima but when it comes to matters of love, there is definitely no bar. The actor-singer gave Lima a diamond sparkler to seal the deal.
9. Emma Roberts and Evan Peters
They were in a three-year relationship before getting engagement during a holiday in late 2014. The evidence of the engagement was the dainty diamond sparkler with a square-cut diamond set on the rose-gold band. Unfortunately, the couple recently decided to break-up and officially confirmed that the split was amicable.
10. Amber Heard and Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp gave an oval-shaped, five-carat diamond valued to be $100,000 to the 28-year-old actress as an engagement ring. However, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor has been seen sporting the ring himself on several occasions!
11. Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wayde
For the basketball star Wayde, his engagement to actress Gabrielle Union was sealed with an 8.5-carat cushion cut diamond valued at $1 million.
12. Cheryl Hines and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
It was a traditional engagement ring for Cheryl gifted to her by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The ring in question has a five-carat central diamond.
13. Sophie Hunter and Benedict Cumberbatch
This was probably THE ENGAGEMENT OF THE YEAR. Our very own Sherlock broke many hearts when he proposed to the theatre director, actress and Oxford graduate Sophie Hunter in November 2014 with a large cushion-cut diamond that is surrounded by a halo of smaller stones. The early 2015 marriage made Hunter the new Mrs. Cumberbatch.
