India will very soon see synthetic melee screening. The high-volume screening will be brought by De Beers under its International Institute of Diamond Grading & Research (IIDGR) initiative. The screening process is expected to start by October 2015.
De Beers has termed the new service as a “low-cost, high-volume” and will showcase the technology during the Hong Kong Jewelry & Gem Fair that is to begin from September 18. The screening process will also be demonstrated during the Hong Kong fair.
President of IIDGR, Jonathan Kendall said that the idea behind investing in the development of innovative diamond technologies is one of the ways to address the major challenges of the industry. He added that by launching the screening center in India, the company expects to support both trade and consumer confidence. The company is also expecting that with the help of the new technology, they will be able to provide greater assurance to its customers.
