Brazil Pavilion Confident of Success at Hong Kong Fair

Dealers at the Brazilian pavilion of the September Hong Kong Fair are confident that their various gemstone stalls will be greatly appreciated by the gemstone market in Hong Kong. They feel that the reasonable prices and varied colored gemstones will stimulate the market.

Several traders are viewing the slowdown in the Chinese market as the reason for the lowering of prices of certain gemstones such as tourmaline and rubellite.Manoel Bernardes, who is displaying a collection of calibrated Paraiba tourmaline from Mozambique, echoed similar thoughts. He felt that the challenging market this year could be a good opportunity to readjust pricing of certain stones. With the prices of tourmalines and rubellites dropping by 10 to 20 per cent, Bernardes is hoping that the September Hong Kong Fair will be a good opportunity to see new buyers.

The company is also confident that Morganite, another gemstone from Mozambique will sell for anything between US$40 to US$50 per carat. The company is a gemstone specialist and is displaying polished rubellite, aquamarine, green tourmaline, kunzite, morganite, Paraiba tourmaline and imperial topaz at the fair.

RM Gemas Import & Export Ltd. is similarly expecting to attract buyers to their extensive display of gemstones mined in Brazil.
