When Celebrities Sported Nude Nails on Red Carpet

Every year award ceremonies bring to us the latest fashion trends sported by celebrities. The red carpets are more often than not occasions to dare, bare and bring it all out. But sometimes the celebrities spring us a surprise by deglamorizing their look in some way or other. This is exactly what was in store during the 2014 Grammy Awards’ red carpet.

One specific, rather odd, style statement that emerged in last year’s Grammy award was that several celebrities were seen sans any nail art or paint. Most chose to keep their nails nude but focused on looking their best otherwise. As New York-based celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann(whose clientele includes names likes Sarah Jessica Parker, Mariah Carey, and Lady Gaga) notes, “Everything old is new again.” While earlier it was a regular scene for celebrities to color coordinate their dress with the nail paint/ art, nowadays focusing on the dress and makeup and letting the nails simply seem to be the trend.

The only celebrity who didn’t go de-glam with her nails was Rita Ora. Instead, she sported a “wild and wacky” nail art that complimented her gold Lanvin gown. 

Nude shades were seen on Grammy’s presenter Anna Faris and on best new artist nominee Kacey Musgraves. However, not everyone was sporting the nude look but had light colors on too.  Like Katy Perry was seen in a light pink polish and Pink was seen in “perfectly groomed and beautiful” nails.
