Decoding Taylor Swift's Grammy Appearance

She’s not just a country singer. She is also a fashionista who makes sure that all her public appearances are well documented. That’s the 25-year-old Taylor Swift for you whose 2014 Grammy appearance is still not forgotten. She appeared on the red carpet in silvery glitters which was thanks to the Gucci gown she had chosen for the occasion. As much as her pretty gown had the shutterbugs capturing her, what actually made her stand out among the rest was her makeup. Special mention must be made of the exceptional work done to her eyes.

While speaking to a section of the media, Swift’s makeup artist Lorrie Turk revealed that it was the singer herself who was keen on wearing a classical look but with “a modern, young edge”. Since she had already chosen the shimmery silver gown, Turk felt that a cooler color palette of gray-blue would perfectly compliment her wear. Turk further went on to give out details of the products that were used to make Swift’s eye glitter.

The work on her eyes began by dabbing the MAC Paint Pot in Clearwater (sea form) all over the eyelids. It gave the eyes the even look. What followed was the eye shadow duo 203 KevynAucoin shadows in Cool Smoke. It was lightly brushed to the crease and below the eyes to leave a smoky gray shadow. The upper lash line was then lined with Trish McEvoy gel liner in Arabian Nights. “It's a fabulous purplish blue color with real pop,” said Turk.  For the final highlight and sparkle, the Chanel Illusion D'Ombre eye shadow in Fantasme (silvery-white shimmer) was used over which a few coats of Armani Eyes to Kill mascara was applied.

Once the eyes were done, it was turned for stylist JemmaMuradian to work on Swift’s hair. Her hair was styled into soft, full curls and was then pulled into a ponytail. A piece of hair was then wrapped around the rubber band, while her bangs were neatly swept to the side. Later when she had changed into an Alberta Ferretti gown for her Grammy performance, the hair was let loose while her makeup coordinated with the gown.
