As Queen B’s right-hand woman, Greenberg has a tough job. Most of the time, she has to be on the move and thus her clothes are always functional yet cool. Being with a stylish boss definitely has its perks and Greenberg knows all about it. But she adds that part of her job is to blend into the background. She adds that she always tries not to be too much in the spotlight, “because that isn't why you're there.”
Being on the job has taught Sam quite a few things. One of the first things she learned when she joined as Beyoncé’s assistant was packing, she reveals. Since her job makes her travel quite often and sometimes without a prior plan, it has become almost mandatory that she always keeps a suitcase half-packed. She tells that one of the key things to remember when you travel as frequently as she does is fitting in everything in the least possible space. She reminiscences that: “I showed up my first day of the job ready to go on tour with two huge suitcases, a small wheel carry-on, a carry-on for my shoulder and my purse." "I soon learned that was not going to be an effective way to travel and ended up cutting it down."
Now things on that front have improved and she packs one to two suitcases so that she can drag them everywhere herself. She also carries a carry-on with her. “If I have a smaller trip I just throw stuff in there so I can run out. Basically, I am always ready to travel: so I have a bag already packed and ready-to-go," she adds.
Being stylish, looking good yet blending with the background are important for Sam. She tells that while her clothes need to be stylish, they also need to be functional. That’s the reason she doesn’t prefer wearing heels while on the job and currently Common Projects shoes are her favorite. “I also have a Stella McCartney platform that she is selling this season,” she adds.
She also likes to wear designers like Proenza Schouler and Balenciaga because they are “super functional”.
Recently while accompanying Beyoncé to the Grammy’s, Sam wore “a pair of black jeans, a black tank top, and then I put on my Stuart Weitzman thigh-high Highland boots. They make my outfit a bit nicer, but still comfortable and functional.”
Being so close to the star has its perks in the fashion sense as well. Once in a while, the personal assistant picks up a thing or two about dressing up from B. “It is a cool experience to learn from her and curate my taste along with hers because she is quite the style icon.”
